Bayshore District is located in Sam Houston Area Council and serves the following school districts:  Clear Creek, Deer Park, and La Porte.  Last year, Bayshore District served more than 2200 youth with the help of more than 950 volunteers.  Click here to find a pack, troop, crew, or ship near you.

Take the time to be a better, more informed leader for your unit by attending Roundtable. You'll be in the best of company.  We have lots of information for all leaders, Committee Members, Cubmasters & Scoutmasters.

 

 

Blue and Gold Placemats

Click here for a  place mat to use at Blue and Gold Banquets to promote Bayshore's 2010 Cub Scout Twilight Camp. The form can be completed by the individual pack contact information. The form is designed for 8.5 x 11 paper.  It is recommended the place mats be printed by the individual units to save from excess printing. The logo can be colored in by the boys. The goal is to have the boys take them home so their parents will have a visual reminder that it is time to start preparing for camp.

University of Scouting

University of Scouting is designed to be a day of learning while having fun. Simply stated, it is the finest one-day supplemental training offered in the BSA - guaranteed to give you confidence and skills necessary for an exciting program. This training offers a variety of courses designed to give additional information to help in all areas and programs of the Boy Scouts of America.  Some of the methods touched upon in different basic trainings are treated in greater depth at UoS. There are no prerequisites as this training is intended to enrich your program experience.

 

UoS provides quality supplemental training to allow leaders to enhance and improve the program quality that they deliver and to have a positive impact on the youth of our council. UoS is designed for all adult leaders in the Boy Scouts of America regardless of function or program area. Learn from these sessions and add quality to your program - GUARANTEED!  More  Over 100 sessions will be offered for Scouters of all experience levels in all program areas.  Pick five hours of classes to help you provide a better program for our youth!  Basic training is also provided for most positions, including commissioners.   Registration form

OA Chapter Meetings

February 14

 

Chapter meetings are held at St. James Presbyterian Church at Spencer and Underwood in La Porte on the second Sunday of every month.  The regular chapter meeting begins at 3 pm followed by ceremony practice, drumming and singing.  For information, times, and a map, visit www.ani-lati.org.  Map  Adults:  it is your duty to gather up the youth OA members in your unit and get them to the meeting. Most of them don't drive and need your help and encouragement to get to OA events.

Minute Maid Park

 

Mark your calendars for the largest celebration in the country!  This unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime event will unite every facet of Boy Scouts in one location.  Events include:  one-on-one interaction with celebrity Eagle Scouts, 50 years of Norman Rockwell Boy Scout Paintings exhibit, fireworks, and more.  Event underwriting opportunities such as corporate and individual sponsorships are available.  Groups will want to purchase tickets together to sit together.  Tickets will be sold on a first come first service basis (and there will be limited numbers of tickets).  Tickets are now available.  An Adventure of a Lifetime

 

Ten Commandments Hike 

February 20

On Saturday, rain or shine, you are invited to follow one of three different, five-mile hikes to view a variety of church, synagogue, and other religious sites with a brief architectural and religious lecture at each stop.  The purpose is to support the Scout Law element "A Scout is Reverent", and promote inter-faith understanding.  This walk is appropriate for entire families, Cub, Boy, and Girl Scouts, Sunday School classes, youth groups, etc.  However, participants must be physically able to navigate good and not-so-good sidewalks, roadways, gravel paths, grassy stretches, etc. at a moderate pace.  More

 

Cub-o-ree  ***new***

March 6

 

Cub-o-ree is a fun day for Cub Scouts and their family.  Come out to Challenger park from 9am to 6pm and enjoy the great outdoors.    Please invite friends interested in Scouting.  This is a great way to recruit, get them signed up and ready to attend Twilight Camp.   Registration form / Rules     Map

***There will be a Cub-o-ree meeting at 7:00pm prior to Roundtable next week (Feb 4th).  Informational meeting about Cub-o-ree.  Units should be prepared to tell us what they plan on doing at Cub-o-ree.   Note: There will be no “pre-registration”.  This will also be discussed at this meeting.

  

Derbies - All Derbies (Pinewood, Smash and Raingutter Regatta are open to all participants.  Scouts will race against other boys in their rank.  Open division is open to all non scouts and parents.  It is NOT necessary that scouts have won their Pack derby to race.

 

Fishing Tournament -  The tournament is an open tournament.  Fish at your own pace.  When you are ready to start fishing, pay your fee and check-in at which time you will receive a time-stamped card.  As you catch a fish, have a judge register your fish.  Only fish caught between the time you check-in and end of tournament (4pm) are eligible.  “Most fish” award will be calculated as the average caught in the time you fished measured in ˝ hour increments..

All leaders and volunteers are cordially invited to attend Bayshore District’s Annual Recognition Dinner.  Come celebrate with us as we acknowledge and thank our adult volunteers for the hard work and dedication that made this year incredibly successful.  Bayshore’s outstanding leaders at the unit and district levels will also be recognized.  The dinner will be held at Clear Lake United Methodist Church.  Nomination form    Registration forms will be available soon.  Map

BSA Adventure Base 100

March 2-6 in Houston

 

Experience Scouting like never before with Adventure Base 100! Created specifically for the 100th Anniversary Celebration, Adventure Base 100 is traveling the country to give people an exciting, hands-on view of the history and future of the Boy Scouts of America.  This 10,000 square foot campus features immersive Scouting experiences including a ropes course and zip line, interactive digital exhibits, a multi-sensory IMAX-like dome, and more! It will also house a traveling museum that will showcase real artifacts from the National Scouting Museum in Irving, Tex.  The Adventure Base 100 will be in Houston at the Texas Live Stock Show and Rodeo.  more
